Morning Purification: Agnisara Tutorial

This is a rather thorough tutorial on one of key purification techniques (Shat Karmas) in Hatha Yoga tradition: AGNISARA (AGNI=fire, SARA=essence). Essence of Fire.

It DOES HAVE Contraindications:

  • High Blood Pressure
  • Heart Disease
  • Acute duodenal peptic ulcers
  • Overactive thyroid
  • Chronic Diarrhea

These contraindications are listed as reminders throughout the tutorial. Please go at your current capacity and respect your tolerance level today. It may be different tomorrow.

Best way to approach it is: GENTLY. Or, simply re-visit at a later stage in the program when your body and breath capacity have gotten stronger. When mastered, however, Agnisara can be incorporated into any stretch (especially the Perfect Morning Stretch used earlier in the program – that way you can get your colon ready for elimination while you are still in bed!), yield many benefits, and become a complete practice in and of itself.

Watch the tutorial and find the variation that works for you. Thenweave into your morning stretching as you see fit.
